New England Match Longest Winning Streak From Tom Brady Years with Win Against Jets

Patriots rookie TreVeyon Henderson in action

First-year player TreVeyon Henderson has scored five touchdowns during the current campaign

New England equaled their top unbeaten stretch from the Tom Brady period as they overcame AFC East opponents the Jets 27-14 in professional football

First-year standout Henderson was the standout with three scores as the Patriots secured an eight-game winning streak for the first time since legendary quarterback Tom Brady's closing campaign with the franchise in 2019

Signal-caller Drake Maye passed for 281 yards and a TD, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts

The win bolsters the New England's lead at the summit of the AFC East as they moved to nine victories against two losses, with the Jets at the foot after dropping to two wins and eight losses

The Jets had gone in front at Foxborough with QB Fields running in a five-yard TD to conclude the New York's initial series

But the home team answered in the second quarter as Henderson scored two short rushing scores before the running back grabbed a reception from Maye at the rear of the end zone halfway into the third period to extend the lead to 21-7

"That was a big time for him rising to the challenge, and it's been great for him to keep gaining experience," the quarterback said of the rookie. "He aims to be outstanding."

Fields connected with Metchie late in the third period to close the gap for the visitors but Andy Borregales kicked a pair of field goals in the final period as the Patriots sealed the triumph
