Tuesday was an enjoyable session coaching the promising young spin bowlers at Merchant Taylor’s Boys School, Crosby, Liverpool. The news item (below) was posted on the school website.
Spin Bowler Gary Keedy Provides Hit Master Classes
Merchant Taylors’ spin bowlers recently benefited from the expert tuition of former Lancashire left arm spinner Gary Keedy when he delivered two master-classes to the School’s keen young cricketers.
Gary drew on experience from a twenty year career in First Class cricket to deliver an outstanding session of spin-bowling coaching for the boys. All the bowlers had their actions analysed through video and Gary offered individual advice on technical improvement. He then set up some match-play scenarios in the nets where the bowlers and batsmen were asked questions about their strategy.
All the boys thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and are looking forward to putting Gary’s advice into action in the 2015 season. Head of Cricket Mr Simon Sutcliffe was delighted with the outcome of the sessions, saying “Gary is not only an outstanding bowler himself but also has the ability to explain his craft accessibly to young players. It was a fantastic opportunity for our boys to learn from someone of his standing in the game.” Gary Keedy was also impressed with the talented boys he coached, saying “I really enjoyed the day. The lads were extremely receptive to the information I gave them. They all bowled well and have very strong potential.”
Gary will be returning after Christmas for a follow-up session, something which the boys are eagerly anticipating.
